Privacy Policy: How QR Crafter Collects & Uses Information

How we handle information when you use QR Crafter, including tools that run in your browser and optional advertising delivered by Google.

Last updated: March 24, 2026

Overview

QR Crafter (“we”, “us”, “our”) operates qr-crafter.com and provides free QR code tools. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices.

Much of our core QR generation, scanning, and validation runs in your browser, so the content you encode or decode often never leaves your device. However, when you load our Site, standard web technologies (including cookies and server logs) and third-party services such as Google AdSense may process certain data as described below.

Information we collect

Depending on how you use the Site, we or our service providers may process:

  • Information you send us when you contact support (for example name, email address, and the content of your message).
  • Technical and usage data such as IP address, approximate location derived from IP, browser type, device type, operating system, referring URLs, pages viewed, and timestamps.
  • Cookies, advertising identifiers, and similar data used for essential site operation, preferences, analytics (if used), and advertising measurement and personalization.
  • Aggregated or de-identified data that cannot reasonably be linked to you.

Cookies and similar technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies for site functionality, to remember settings, to understand how the Site is used, and—where enabled—to show and measure advertising.

For a detailed breakdown of cookie categories, third parties (including Google), and how to manage preferences, see our Cookie Policy.

Advertising (Google AdSense)

We may use Google AdSense to display advertisements on the Site. Google may use cookies and other technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to our Site or other websites, and to measure ad performance.

Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to users based on their visits to our Site and/or other sites on the Internet.

You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting https://www.google.com/settings/ads . For more on how Google uses information from sites that use its services, see https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites . Google’s Privacy Policy is available at https://policies.google.com/privacy .

Users in the European Economic Area, UK, and similar jurisdictions: where required by law, we will obtain your consent before using non-essential cookies (including many advertising cookies), for example through a cookie banner or consent tool.

QR code content processing

By design, many QR operations are performed locally in your browser. We do not intend to store the raw contents of QR codes you create or scan on our servers for those client-side flows.

If you use features that require sending data to our servers (for example certain uploads, account-related features if offered, or error reports), those interactions may be processed as needed to provide the feature.

How we use information

We use information for the following purposes:

  • Operate, maintain, secure, and improve the Site and our tools.
  • Respond to support requests and communicate with you.
  • Monitor aggregate performance, detect abuse, and troubleshoot technical issues.
  • Serve and measure advertising, including through Google and similar partners.
  • Comply with law, enforce our Terms of Service, and protect rights and safety.

Sharing and disclosure

We do not sell your personal information. We may share information with:

  • Service providers who assist with hosting, analytics, security, email delivery, or advertising, subject to appropriate safeguards.
  • Google and other advertising partners, as needed to show ads and report on delivery and effectiveness.
  • Law enforcement or others when required by law or to protect the rights, property, or safety of our users or the public.
  • A successor entity in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, where permitted by law.

Data retention

We retain information only as long as needed for the purposes above, unless a longer period is required by law. Server logs and similar records are kept for a limited period and may then be deleted or aggregated.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your choices and rights

You can control cookies through your browser settings and, for Google ads, through Google’s Ads Settings and industry opt-out tools referenced in our Cookie Policy.

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict certain processing of your personal information, or to object to processing or portability. To make a request, contact us at support@qr-crafter.com. We may need to verify your identity.

California residents (CCPA/CPRA)

If you are a California resident, you may have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) as amended, including to know what personal information we collect, to request deletion, and to opt out of certain types of sharing.

We do not sell personal information as the term “sell” is commonly defined under the CCPA. We may share limited data with advertising partners to deliver ads as described in this policy. You can control personalized ads as described above.

California residents may designate an authorized agent to submit requests on their behalf, subject to verification requirements.

European Economic Area, UK, and Switzerland

If you are located in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, we process personal data where we have a lawful basis such as consent (where required), contract, legitimate interests (for example securing and improving the Site), or legal obligation.

You may have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

International transfers

We operate from the United States. If you access the Site from other regions, your information may be processed in the United States or other countries where we or our providers operate, which may have different data protection laws than your country.

Children’s privacy

The Site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have collected information from a child, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will revise the “Last updated” date when we do. Continued use of the Site after changes means you accept the updated policy, except where your consent is required for new processing.
