Use a profile QR when your goal is followers or brand discovery, not a single clip. It is the right default for storefronts, events, and creator merch.

Accepted inputs include: your @handle, a full profile URL like https://www.tiktok.com/@yourname, or a long form video URL (we strip it down to your profile so the QR still grows follows).

Short vm.tiktok.com or vt.tiktok.com links usually point to a single video, not a profile. For those, use the TikTok video QR page instead so the scan lands on the clip you intend.

Mobile m.tiktok.com links are fine. We normalize to a stable https://www.tiktok.com/@… profile URL where possible so the QR payload stays consistent for printers and partners.

TikTok opens from the camera app: if the QR is too small, blurry, or low contrast, the phone will not lock on. Aim for dark modules on a light background and keep a clear quiet zone (empty margin) around the code.

Rule of thumb for hand held print: module width roughly 0.4 to 0.6 mm for business cards, larger for posters (viewers scan from farther away). When in doubt, print one proof and walk through a real scan at the expected distance.

Avoid glossy lamination directly on top of the code if it creates hot spots; matte finish or a flat spot for the QR reduces glare failures.

On many phones, the camera detects the QR and offers to open the link. If TikTok is installed, the OS may route straight into the app; otherwise the profile opens in the mobile browser and users can still follow or watch.

You cannot force “always open in app” from a static QR. That behavior depends on the device, OS version, and TikTok install. That is normal for every QR vendor.

If you need a guaranteed in app campaign destination, combine the QR with clear copy (“Scan to follow us on TikTok”) so users know what to expect.

A static QR encodes a single URL; it does not include analytics by itself. To attribute traffic, add UTM parameters in TikTok’s profile website field if you redirect through your own domain, or use TikTok’s native analytics for follower and traffic trends.

For offline campaigns, use one QR per placement (poster A vs poster B) by sending each to a lightweight redirect on your domain that logs the hit then forwards to the same TikTok profile.

Watch TikTok analytics after launch: spikes in profile views or follows after an event usually confirm the QR placement is working.

If the QR will not scan, increase size, improve contrast, and remove busy artwork from behind the modules. Export again at higher resolution if the file was scaled up from a tiny image.

If scans open the wrong profile, double check the pasted URL or handle for typos. Similar handles are easy to mix up. Verify in the browser before you print.
